The Body Shop was founded in 1976 in Brighton, England, by Anita Roddick, who opened a small shop selling naturally-inspired skincare and cosmetics with a then-novel emphasis on ethical sourcing, refillable containers, and opposition to animal testing. Now headquartered in London, the brand operates stores and online globally with continued emphasis on cruelty-free formulation.
