About CouponHive
CouponHive is an editorial-first savings publication. We pair verified discount codes with original buying guides, and we write about retail the way a newsroom would cover any other beat — with sources, sweeps, and a willingness to tell readers when something isn't worth their time.
How we got here
CouponHive started in early 2026 because the four of us — at the time, retail and consumer-finance reporters at three different publications — kept noticing the same thing: most coupon sites were lying. Not maliciously, exactly. Lazily. The same expired Banana Republic code recycled across thirty domains. The same “verified 2 hours ago” badge on offers that hadn't worked since fall. The same SEO doorway pages with five paragraphs of keyword soup and not a single sentence written by someone who had actually shopped at the store.
We started CouponHive to do for retail savings what good consumer journalism does for any other beat: check the work, write the context, and tell readers when something isn't worth their time. That meant building two things in parallel — a daily editorial sweep where every code is hand-checked before it goes live, and an original written guide for every store and category we cover. No store page goes up without an editor's byline behind it.
What we do
We track promotional codes from several hundred US retailers across apparel, home goods, beauty, electronics, food and beverage, travel, and a handful of subscription services we think are worth knowing about. For each store, we publish:
- A current list of codes our editors have tested in the last 24–72 hours
- An original buying guide explaining when the brand actually runs its best discounts, what categories rarely go on sale, and where the value lives versus where the markup is
- A change log when terms shift (minimum spends, category exclusions, members-only gating)
For each category — “women's denim,” “home espresso,” “running shoes” — we publish a curated guide explaining which retailers are worth shopping at full price, which only make sense during sales, and which keep a perpetual coupon out there that you should never check out without.
Who's on the team
We're a small editorial group. Each of us owns a beat and writes under our own byline.
- M. Castellanos — Editor-in-Chief. Previously covered consumer retail and e-commerce for a national business weekly. Owns apparel, beauty, and the weekly newsletter.
- Priya Raman — Deputy Editor. Former personal-finance reporter. Owns home goods, kitchen, and the buying-guide voice across the site.
- D. Kovac — Verification Lead. Runs the daily code-sweep operation, owns the audit log, and decides when a code is killed. Previously a research analyst at a comparison-shopping startup.
- Janelle Park — Staff Writer. Covers electronics, subscriptions, and travel. Reads every retailer's terms-of-service so you don't have to.
Contributing writers L. Westbrook, A. Tomlin, and F. Adekunle rotate through specialty coverage — outdoor gear, food and beverage, and back-to-school respectively.
Our editorial standards
- Every code is checked by a human. Our verification team runs codes against a real test cart before publishing and timestamps each check. If a code can't be confirmed in the past 72 hours, it gets flagged or pulled.
- Every store gets original writing. No two store pages share a paragraph. If we don't have something useful to say about a retailer, we don't list it.
- Affiliate links don't buy placement. We earn commission from some retailers when a reader clicks through and buys. That revenue does not influence which codes we surface, how we rank them, or whether we say a brand's sale is mediocre. (We say it.)
- We kill dead codes. When a code stops working, it comes off the page — usually within a sweep cycle. We don't leave expired codes up to pad the listings.
- Corrections are public. If we got something wrong about a retailer's terms or a code's eligibility, we update the page and note what changed.
What we're not
We're not a browser extension, a cashback portal, or a deal-feed aggregator. We don't scrape other coupon sites. We don't auto-generate listings. We don't run a network of doorway domains. CouponHive is one publication, with one editorial voice, and the codes you read here were verified by someone whose name is on the page.
